FAIRFAX, VA — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) hosted its 20th Annual Golf Classic at the Country Club of Fairfax on October 16, 2023. 65 golfers participated, including special guest Steve Buckhantz, former Washington sports commentator, who headlined the breakfast sports panel and &. The Tournament Sponsor was Calamos Investments, represented by Paris Karasso, Senior Vice President, Senior Wealth Advisor. Leon Andris and Peter Bota served as Tournament Co-Chairmen.

“We are happy that our 20th annual Golf Classic was an incredible success. We look forward to continuous growth,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said. “It continues to be a wonderful event for colleagues and friends to gather in friendly competition and to enjoy a thought-provoking discussion about the sports industry during the breakfast panel. We are grateful to our organizers, generous sponsors, and golfers who took the time to support AHI.”

The team of: Peter Marketos, Leif Ackerman, Marcus Malone, and Gustavo Leal captured first-place honors. Steve Buckhantz, Tim Mazzetti, Paul Barbieri, and Tim McCarthy teamed-up to place second. The third-place team included: Jim Ballard, Tim Nichols, Lanny Junes, and Sam Misleh. Lanny Junes earned both Closest-to-the-Pin honors and Longest Drive honors in the competition.
