WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute hosted a Cypriot delegation headed by the Mayor of the occupied Municipality of Famagusta at the Hellenic House in Washington, D.C. on December 4, 2023.

The discussion centered around the situation in the occupied portion of Cyprus, and more particularly, the case of the fenced area of Varosha (Famagusta).

The delegation consisted of: Dr. Simos Ioannou, Mayor of Famagusta; Chrysanthos Zannettos, Deputy Mayor of Famagusta; Marilena Manoli, Municipal Director; and Michalis Vassiliou, Municipal Councillor.

The American Hellenic Institute was represented by Executive Director Zac Cotronakis, joined by Legislative Assistant Alexander Christofor.
